When good enough is no longer good enough (Part 1)
I pushed “cancel” yet again.
Why isn’t it coming out of the machine?
I jabbed “cancel” one more time.
Nothing. No card. No cash.
And 19,000 kilometres from home.
Luckily, I was at an ATM outside a bank, so retrieving my card from the stupid machine shouldn’t be a problem.
Or so I thought.
But no.
The ATM had swallowed my card for no reason. And the bank said it couldn’t be returned. Merci.
I was seething. There was so much I wanted to say. But being politely angry in another language isn’t easy. I opted to stay civil.
Afterwards I realised this experience has given me a boost to keep going in French.
It’s shown me that I want to be more than good enough.
I want to effortlessly say and write exactly what I mean.
I’m not there yet.
Are you in English?
Like a client recently told me: “I don’t want to hurt English”.
Do you feel the same?
And are you ready to become better than good enough at English for work?
Let me help you.
What’s your biggest barrier to becoming better than good enough?
Tell me, so I can help you overcome it.
